OMG!
In case you didn't notice, something happened on my last post that totally made my day. Rachel Khoo actually commented on my post about her. :) . Thanks Rachel. I hope that someday I can be at least be half the cook/chef person you are!
Today was my mama's birthday. I decided to do some cooking. I planned to make two things from Rachel's book; Gratin de choufleur avec une chapelure aux noisettes ( Cauliflower bake with hazelnut crunch crust) and Gougeres ( Cheese puffs) And from another book; Panzella ( it's a salad).
It was the perfect idea, these three dishes would accompany my sisters chicken, potato and carrot roast. I started preparing the ingredients, when my sister put her roast in the oven, then realised I didn't have enough time so i had to forget about making the cheese puffs. *insert sadface here*
Everything turned out delicious. I'll post the recipe up for the panzella, you definitely have to make it, and if you're interested in Rachel's bake, you should buy her book, because there are many more amazing recipes to try.
Some things I learnt:
I decided to make the bake with cauliflower and broccoli, without realising that broccoli cooks faster than cauliflower, and also that I wouldn't be able to separate them once I mixed them in with the cheese sauce. It still turned out great, though I think next time I'll only use one vegetable. And also, I let my mama help me with chopping the hazelnut, ( she put it into her food processor and made hazelnut meal) I think it shouldn't have been so fine!
